He Is For You, Not Against You

Several times a week, for the past 18 years, I have put one or more of my children to bed. The final thing I’ve done before a goodnight kiss is to speak or sing God’s blessing over them.

Usually it has been the same ancient blessing that the High Priest of the Israelites spoke over the nation of Israel 3,500 years ago.

The Lord bless you and keep you;

The Lord make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you;

The Lord lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace.

The Priestly Blessing. Numbers chapter 6 verse 23-27

The momentous events we’re living through right now seem a fitting time for it to be invoked as a blessing over the whole nation, as it was originally intended. So here it is, recited like never before. May it encourage you, inspire you, reassure you and change you.

My hope and prayer is that this current crisis will be the push many people need to realise that…
